How to style your family for Spring family photos.

As a mother of three, I know how daunting it can be to find the perfect outfits for your family photos. But with Spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start planning for this special occasion. Whether you choose to capture your memories in a studio or in nature’s beauty, I’m here to help you make it a success. I’ll be sharing tips on colors, links to my favorite clothing items, and even some ideas from my personal collection, as I’ve photographed plenty of stylish individuals. So let’s make your family photoshoot a moment to remember!

Spring family photo outfits: Let’s start with colors & textures:

When taking pictures of Mom, it’s best to use neutral colors with subtle prints that won’t be distracting on camera, these can add a touch of personality to the photo without being too distracting. Just remember to avoid bold patterns or bright colors that might take away from mom’s natural radiance. With these simple tricks, you will be ready for some amazing shots that you’ll cherish for years to come. Here are some great examples of beautiful options for you to consider.

Choosing the right wardrobe for little ones can be challenging as the options are endless and all so cute. I suggest going for neutral colors, small patterns, and classic looks that never go out of style.

For babies from 0 to 12 months, bubble rompers are adorable, and two-piece sets are also super cute. For children aged 12 months to 6 years, I recommend cute dresses for girls and jeans with plain shirts for boys. Adding layers to their outfits is also a great way to create fun and interesting looks.

Last but not least, now we style the dad! This is the easiest! As long as we stick with a nice jean/pant and a cool neutral shirt you will be ok.

Let’s discuss color palettes and how to create a complementary combination of colors. I have put together some color palettes that work well together. When styling my clients, I always consider how the colors blend together. Rather than matching the colors, we want to ensure they coordinate harmoniously.

Below, I am sharing some pallets I pulled together as examples:

When planning a Spring Family Photoshoot, there are certain things that you might want to avoid or reconsider. Here are five things to keep in mind:

  1. Avoid patterns.
  2. Avoid wearing bright colors and colors that clash.
  3. Avoid tanning right before your session.
  4. Avoid matching everyone in the same color or pattern.
  5. Avoid trying new makeup or hair styles.

When it comes to accessorizing, it’s essential to choose items that reflect your personal style. I recommend sticking with timeless and heirloom pieces. So this one is completely up to you!
